Admired for her rich, powerful voice and notable dramatic abilities, soprano Amanda Echalaz has appeared at leading opera houses, such as the Royal Opera House, the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago and Sydney Opera House. Hailed as the "leading Tosca of her generation ", she has sung the title role for the ROH Covent Garden, Sydney Opera House, Opera National du Rhin, Staatsoper Berlin, Salzburg Landestheater, Semperoper Dresden, English National Opera, Opera Holland Park and Santa Fe Opera.
Appearances include Cio-Cio-San Madama Butterfly (Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Cape Town Opera and La Monnaie, Brussels), Ariadne Ariadne auf Naxos (Santa Fe Opera), Ker in the world premiere of Birtwistle's The Minotaur (ROH Covent Garden), Lucia in the world première of Ades’ Exterminating Angel (Salzburg Festival, ROH Covent Garden and Metropolitan Opera, New York), Tatyana Onegin (Teatro Comunale di Bologna and English National Opera), title role Manon Lescaut (Opera Holland Park, Warsaw Opera and La Monnaie), Salomé (La Monnaie), Elisabetta Don Carlos (Staatsoper Berlin), Amelia Un Ballo in Maschera (Opera Holland Park), and Maddalena Andrea Chenier (Bregenz Festival). She recently made her role debuts as La Gioconda for Grange Park Opera, Lady Macbeth Macbeth for New Zealand Opera and Fricka Das Rheingold for Dallas Opera. Future engagements include Tosca for Opera Holland Park and Turandot for Hawke’s Bay Opera.
